On October 10 of my freshman fall semester, I attended a Green Dot Training Event in the Cocanaugher center. This was a large group activity and was a comprehensive lesson of how we, as Aggies, could help prevent acts of violence and social disturbance on our campus and in our communities. We discussed what we believed to be the largest issues of danger on our campus, and how one simple change could help stop violence and ensure peace and safety in our environment. We also discussed a step-by-step method to stopping danger in its tracks as a bystander. After attending this event, I felt much more confident in my ability to stand up for what was right and defend my values for the safety of others around me.
